Director
John is the Founder and Director of Southwest Training Solutions, having established the business in 2006. With more than 34 years’ experience working and teaching within the Adult Health and Social Care sector, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the organisation.
Throughout his career, John has held a variety of roles, from volunteer through to management, giving him a broad understanding of the sector. While he now oversees the financial management of the business, he continues to deliver training, specialising in Safe Handling of People, First Aid, and Health & Safety.
Outside of work, John enjoys keeping active at the gym and spending time with friends over a good board game.
Director
Amanda joined Southwest Training Solutions as a Director in 2019, bringing with her extensive experience in both healthcare and training. After qualifying as an instructor in 2003, she worked in domiciliary care and as a freelance instructor before joining the team.
Amanda specialises in First Aid and Safeguarding training and also leads the company’s marketing activities, helping to support the continued growth and development of the business.
Before moving into the training sector, Amanda served as a Medical Assistant in the Royal Navy for 13 years, gaining valuable clinical and leadership experience. Outside of work, she enjoys visiting the theatre and spending time with her two children.
Office Manager
Steph is our Office Manager and plays a key role in the day-to-day running of Southwest Training Solutions. From handling enquiries and booking training courses to issuing certificates and supporting clients, she helps ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
Steph joined Southwest Training Solutions in 2019, bringing with her over 20 years of administrative experience across the Charity and Education sectors. Her extensive knowledge, organisational skills, and dedication to customer service make her an invaluable member of the team.
Outside of work, Steph enjoys travelling and has visited five continents. She is also known for her impressive ability to recall random facts and song lyrics, and is a proud mum of two.
Specialist Trainer in Emergency & Deteriorating Patient Care
Daryl is a highly experienced specialist trainer with a strong background in emergency care and the management of deteriorating patients. He delivers a range of accredited and specialist courses, including Basic Life Support (BLS), Immediate Life Support (ILS), FREC (First Response Emergency Care), and First Aid training.
Drawing on extensive frontline experience, Daryl combines evidence-based practice with practical, scenario-led learning to ensure delegates develop the confidence and skills to respond effectively in emergency situations. He is passionate about equipping healthcare professionals and first responders with the knowledge they need to deliver safe, effective care when it matters most.
Committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical training, Daryl continually updates his practice in line with current guidelines and best practice.
Instructor
Steve has been a valued member of the Southwest Training Solutions team for over 13 years. Specialising in First Aid, People Handling, and Breakaway training, he combines extensive practical experience with a supportive and engaging teaching style.
Alongside his training role, Steve works within the fitness industry, providing sports massage and acupuncture treatments to support injury recovery, rehabilitation, and physical wellbeing. He works as a Pitchside Medic for local football clubs and has been an FA Medical Tutor for over 16 years, providing specialist medical education and support within the football community.
Passionate about helping others develop essential skills, Steve is committed to delivering high-quality training that reflects current best practice and equips learners with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively when it matters most.
